Burns City Council meets the second and fourth Wednesday of each month at Burns City Hall, 242 S. Broadway, at 6 p.m.

The Harney County Cultural Coalition will meet from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 9, at the Harney County Library. Items for discussion/action will include finalizing and publicizing grant applications. The public is invited.

The Cancer Support Group is open to all cancer patients, survivors, family and support persons. Come learn and share about all types of cancer, ways to manage symptoms, treat side effects and make connections to help you navigate cancer care. The support group will meet on Wednesday, Oct. 9, from 5:30 to 7 p.m. in the Hines City Hall meeting room.

The Oregon Encyclopedia will be holding a community meeting on Oregon history and culture from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 9, at the Harney County Community Center.

Non-denominational Bible services are held at 7 p.m. each Wednesday at Hines City Hall, with ministers Rose Davidson and Cheryl Emborg officiating. (There will be no meeting Oct. 9.)

Bring babies to Lapsit Storytime at Harney County Library, 80 W. “D” St., each Wednesday at 10 a.m. Enjoy music, stories, rhymes and fingerplays especially for babies and toddlers.

The Burns Paiute Reservation Day Powwow, “Promoting Healthy Lifestyles,” will be held Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 12-13, at Burns High School. Grand Entries will be held at 1 p.m. and 7 p.m. Saturday, and at noon Sunday. The public is welcome to attend, and there is no admission fee. The event will feature traditional drumming, dancing, arts, crafts and vendors.

The Harney County Radio Association meets every second Saturday of the month at 10 a.m. in the basement meeting room of the Harney County Courthouse. All amateur radio operators and interested parties are welcome.

Farmers Market from 7:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Hines City Park. The market will be held each Saturday into October or until the first hard frost ends the growing season.

Oregon Old Time Fiddlers, District 9, holds a potluck and jam session the second Sunday of each month at Harney County Senior Center, 17 S. Alder, October through May at 1 p.m. with music and dancing from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. The public is invited to attend.

A Teeman Family Memorial will be held at 5 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 13, at the Burns Paiute Gathering Center.

A free community dinner, eat in or take out, will be served from 5 to 6 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 13, at the Episcopal/Lutheran Church at the corner of Diamond and A streets. Call 541-573-2802.
