Harney District Hospital will be holding a Community & Employee Appreciation Event on Friday, Aug. 7, from 4:30 – 7:30 p.m. at Washington Park. Guns & Hoses, sponsored by Harney County Safe Communities, will be held from noon until 3 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 8 at Hines Skate Park.

The Harney County Radio Association meets every second Saturday of the month at 10 a.m. in the basement meeting room of the Harney County Courthouse. All amateur radio operators and interested parties are welcome.

“A Mile in His Shoes,” a movie for the entire family, will be shown free of charge at 7 p.m. Monday, Aug. 10, at the Desert Historic Theatre. The movie is sponsored by the Burns Ward of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

The Local Community Advisory Council will meet Tuesday, Aug. 11, in the board conference room at Harney District Hospital. They will be discussing health care where we live, work, learn and play. Harney County Fair Board meets the second Tuesday of each month in the Hibbard Building at the Harney County Fairgrounds at 7 p.m.

Senior Health Insurance Benefits Assistance Program (SHIBA) trained volunteers will be at the Harney County Senior and Community Services Center, 17 S. Alder, from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. each Tuesday to help with Medicare insurance needs or medications you cannot afford.

Burns Butte Sportsmens Club will be having Twilight Trap Practice Wednesday evenings from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. every week now through September at the range on Radar Hill. All levels of shooters are welcome, and instruction will be available for beginners.

The 2015 Chris Miller Memorial Steens Rim Run will be held Saturday, Aug. 1. The walk starts at 9:30 a.m. and the run at 10 a.m.

Join Harney District Hospital (HDH) for a free childbirth education class. Learn about the labor experience, caring for your newborn, post-partum care and much more!
