The Harney County Community Response Team (CRT) meets the first Wednesday of every month from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. in the Community Center, 484 N. Broadway. The CRT consists of anyone interested in what is going on in the county as it relates to business and industry. County, city and tribal leaders provide general information to the public regarding existing programs and recruitment efforts.

Free cardio-kick classes for all fitness levels will be held every Wednesday evening in May from 5:30 p.m. until 6:30 p.m. at Faith Baptist Church, 777 W. Saginaw in Hines.

A Spring Bazaar will be held at the Christmas Valley Community Hall in Christmas Valley May 3-4. The bazaar will be open 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. Friday, May 3, and 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. Saturday, May 4.

Reading Club meets at the Harney County Library each Friday from 9 to 10 a.m. Open to 2nd- through 5th-grade students. For more information, call 541-573-6670.

A recovery group, “Celebrate Recovery,” meets each Friday at the Harney County Church of The Nazarene, 311 Roe Davis Ave. in Hines. High Desert Park and Recreation (HDPR) will host a free Major League Baseball Pitch, Hit & Run competition for area youth at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 4, at the Burns High School baseball field. The competition is for all youths age 7-14. For more information call 541-573-2413.

The Harney County Chapter of the Oregon Hunters Association will be meeting at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 7, at the Harney County Community Center. The 2013 big game public meeting follows at 7 p.m.

The Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife will host a meeting in Burns to provide information and receive public comments on proposals for the 2013 and 2014 big game hunting seasons. The meeting will be held at 7 p.m. until 9 p.m. Tuesday, May 7, at the Harney County Community Center, 484 N. Broadway in Burns.The public is encouraged to attend and provide input.

Harney District Hospital and the Harney County Senior Center are sponsoring a six-class workshop series designed to make nutrition and activity a vital part of your lifestyle. The third session, ‘Eating Healthy on a Budget,’ will show you how inexpensive nutritious food can be. The session will be held from 10:30 a.m until 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, May 7, at the Senior and Community Services Center.
